a bit quiet on here

Apologies for being a bit quiet for the past 4 months. Hectic work life.

I have been running minimalist since November 2012, yesterday I completed the “Neolithic Marathon” from Avebury to Stonehenge in WIltshire in minimalist shoes.

I tried barefoot over the winter, but we have had a really rubbish winter here, until mid April it was struggling to get into double figures.

I have done a couple of barefoot runs, just a mile or so in the past couple of weeks. I’m now starting to walk around barefoot too around the home, and for walking around the houses.

I have also found that when running over about 5 miles in minimalist shoes, I get a sharp pain in my foot behind my 2nd toe.

I have Morton’s Toe, which means my 2nd toe metatarsal joint is longer than my first toe metatarsal joint, hence my body puts the walking and running load through the 2nd toe. I tried to correct this by putting a pad in my shoe behind my big toe, but this did weird things to my knees. Hence yesterday I ran for 20 miles feeling like I was running on a knife edge.

I am now going to concentrate on pure barefoot, as I did the last half mile of my marathon completely barefoot and it felt lovely.

That is all.

Janathon day 13 – 5 mile trail run

Met up with some new people today off barefoot Britain Facebook page. One lives in my town (calne) and one from nearby in Wiltshire.

I was the most “dressed” for the -2 to 0C run.

One was barefoot, one in VFFs (but he does normally barefoot even in the snow!!!!) and 11 year old son of one of the guys in Fila VFFs.

Amazing run round beautiful Wiltshire countryside.

Neolithic hill fort.

Neolithic barrows.

1500 year old wansdyke:

Roman Road.

Great like minded people.

Janathon day 11&12 – no running

No running except after vomiting children.

Hence didn’t feel like going out.

But I did lose approx 5lb on my low carb high fat diet!!!!

Field mushrooms, pâté, cheese……

Janathon day 6 – French fancy!

Well today I went for a lovely walk (only 1 mile) with some of the kids. Then I took the 9 yo for a 1.3 mile run with me.

Did 1.3 miles at 13m pace. Really enjoyed it. Did a few sprints too.

Low carb day has so far consisted of mushrooms and scrambled egg for breakfast, roast pork (with leeks, asparagus, cabbage, but no roasties) for lunch, and a snack of celery, cre cheese, nuts, olives and maybe a bit more cheese later on.

Felt a bit tired, but it is my body adjusting I guess.

Nearly gave in to one of these:

Janathon day 5 – no carbs

Well today I spent about 6 hours changing the radiator on my car.

Then did other stuff.

Then finally went out for 1.07 miles at 8m55s pace in huaraches.

And I started my low carb way of eating today.

No breakfast, omelette for lunch, that green chicken curry (no rice) for tea, a block of blue cheese for a snack.

And best of all, beer only contains about 20g of carb a bottle!!! I am allowed 50g a day so get in!!!!
