Apologies for being a bit quiet for the past 4 months. Hectic work life.
I have been running minimalist since November 2012, yesterday I completed the “Neolithic Marathon” from Avebury to Stonehenge in WIltshire in minimalist shoes.
I tried barefoot over the winter, but we have had a really rubbish winter here, until mid April it was struggling to get into double figures.
I have done a couple of barefoot runs, just a mile or so in the past couple of weeks. I’m now starting to walk around barefoot too around the home, and for walking around the houses.
I have also found that when running over about 5 miles in minimalist shoes, I get a sharp pain in my foot behind my 2nd toe.
I have Morton’s Toe, which means my 2nd toe metatarsal joint is longer than my first toe metatarsal joint, hence my body puts the walking and running load through the 2nd toe. I tried to correct this by putting a pad in my shoe behind my big toe, but this did weird things to my knees. Hence yesterday I ran for 20 miles feeling like I was running on a knife edge.
I am now going to concentrate on pure barefoot, as I did the last half mile of my marathon completely barefoot and it felt lovely.
That is all.
